Chaplet of the Holy Wounds

The Chaplet of the Holy Wounds, or Rosary of the Holy Wounds, is prayed on rosary beads: opening prayers on the crucifix, then one invocation on the large beads and another on the small ones. Its two invocations come from Sister Mary Martha Chambon (1841-1907), a Visitation nun of Chambéry, who said they were given to her by Christ.

The text

Chaplet of the Holy Wounds

On the crucifix:

O Jesus, divine Redeemer, be merciful to us and to the whole world. Amen.

Strong God, holy God, immortal God, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen.

Grace and mercy, my Jesus, during present dangers; cover us with Thy precious Blood. Amen.

Eternal Father, grant us mercy through the Blood of Jesus Christ, Thy only Son; have mercy on us, we beseech Thee. Amen, Amen, Amen.

On the large beads:

  • Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Wounds of our Lord Jesus Christ To heal the wounds of our souls.

On the small beads:

  • My Jesus, pardon and mercy Through the merits of Thy Holy Wounds.

Questions

Do I need chaplet beads?

No. The beads only help you count; you can keep count on your fingers or with an ordinary rosary.
